Week 5 Final Blog

Watch the above video, A Nation in Crisis: America’s Education System is Broken, and respond to the following questions:

  1. What impact is globalization having on the U.S. education system?
  2. What changes need to happen in education in order for our students to be prepared to compete in a global society?
  3. What changes need to happen in our educational policy in order to fix the problem?
The impact on globilization really comes with the melting pot of education. We are growing and the teaaching and way's we do things are more then we have done before. At this point most high school seniors are ready for college by there junior years. School has changed and hit every area of the world. I feel that we need to make the kids in the country ready for the world and not a test. We focus on the test and it must stop we need to have the kids in the contry cultivated in the world and other things besides the limited scale we have them. I feel that we need a reform and globilize teaching and have teachers be a more important part weather in person or on line. We need to expand the role of education to every coutnry and every child in this world.

Business in Schools

This week we looked at educational businesses and the role federal, state, and local governments play in school funding. What struck you as most important? What surprised you or interested you? What do you want more information on? What do you want to change, if you could?

When i look at the businesses aspect in schools you see that there are so many levels and all parts of goverment and local area's play a huge part from books to food the kids eat to the funding they get. There are many things that make it more then just educaiton. I feel that the pecking order starts with the local funding and the money added by state and federal goverment interest me the most. I would like to have more information on books and the cost and why there are so much. I would change the way we charge and do things and have more class's material online to reduce the cost and the budget in my view.

Education as a Bussiness and the role it plays.

When we look at today in schools we see that there is really a side of it that is really about the money and the need to have more. I look at many things and see that changes can take place in so many levels at different views. From books to class's its almost now a way to make money for the kids and
they don't see it as a learning place as they did in the past. When you see the fact that the Federal Goverment dictates what the states are given it amazes me. The State level has so little control with there own funding. I was very suprised by this. I feel that i don't want to know anymore then i already do but i have issue's with the way we handle funding for education in this great country.
